This week it's all about celebrating that British tradition of drinking tea and eating sandwiches and cakes, as it's Afternoon Tea Week, running from 10th - 16th August.
What better way to celebrate than to go for afternoon tea ourselves, and on Sunday afternoon we did just that. We were staying in Wembley for a couple of days (minus Jack, who was being spoilt at Nanny's) and whilst there the kids obviously wanted to see Wembley Stadium, and there's no better way to view it than from the top of the Wembley Hilton Hotel, in their Sky Bar 9, whilst eating delicious cakes.
The Sky Bar has a large open terrace as well as tables indoors, should the weather be on the chilly side. Thankfully it was a beautiful sunny day when we went, and we sat at one of the high tables around the edge of the terrace, overlooking Wembley stadium. Unfortunately there's a lot of building work going on in one area of Wembley so the views from the other side of the terrace weren't as stunning.
The standard afternoon tea includes your choice of teas, coffees and hot chocolate, along with a three tier stand of assorted sandwiches, scones and cakes - so much more than any one person could possibly eat, but we gave it our best shot. For an additional fee you can include a glass of Pimms or Champagne, and I opted for the Pimms, which was delicious and refreshing on such a hot day.
The food was lovely, and although we didn't all like everything on offer, it meant that we could swap amongst ourselves. I'm not a big lover of fish but I was more than happy to swap my salmon wraps for another egg mayo brioche, which were delicious. The kids weren't keen on the coffee chocolate cake, which left them more room to squeeze in two fruit scones each!
The Sky Bar is open Thursday to Saturday from 12pm to 1am, and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday.
Standard afternoon tea is priced at £20 per person, and Pimms afternoon tea is £25 per person.
The Hilton Wembley is located right next door to Wembley Stadium, SSE Wembley Arena and London Designer Outlet, with ample car parking close by, and within close walking distance from Wembley Stadium and Wembley Park tube stations.

We were provided with complimentary afternoon tea in exchange for my honest opinion.
