How to fix broken pan handles with Sugru

I have this set of stainless steel steamer pans which are a good few years old, possibly 10, or even more. They are in regular use, especially the bottom pan which is used for boiling pasta in. Recently one of the plastic handles at the side has become a bit loose.  On close inspection the plastic is crumbling, so no amount of screw tightening would stop it from wobbling. I didn't want to risk having it snap off whilst carrying a full pan of boiling water so had resigned myself to the fact that it would be going to the tip.

Then the people at Sugru got in touch to see if I would like to receive a free sample of their innovative new product, which is a kind of play-doh for adults. I didn't really see why I would need some of this adult play-doh stuff, until I watched the video.

How cool is that!

Then I remembered my old pan....

I used two of the mini packs of Sugru on the pan, and moulded it around the original handle and onto the side of the pan.

A few weeks later and the pan is still going strong, despite being used on the gas hob and washed in the dishwasher. Ok it doesn't look particularly attractive but it does the job and saved me forking out for a new steamer.

The rrp of Sugru is £12.99 for 8 mini packs, and check out the website for more cool things you can do with it.
