#HiggidyPieNight British Beef, Stilton & Ale Pie

I was unable to join in with the #HiggidyPieNight on Twitter tonight but we still managed to eat our pie (and enjoy a glass of wine).

This week's pie was British Beef, Stilton & Ale, a shortcrust pastry case filled with a beef, ale & stilton stew and topped with a pile of mash. I was pretty sure I would like this one as I like Stilton, unlike the other members of the family. Of course, just like when I add a secret ingredient to one of my recipes, I didn't tell anyone what was in the pie until they had eaten it and confirmed that they liked it.


Sam absolutely loved this pie, especially the huge pieces of tender beef.


The husband (who I will say doesn't have the most refined tastebuds) said he thought it was a bit bland and not nearly as good as the Chicken Pot Pie of last week or the Spinach, Feta & Pine Nut pie that we'd previously eaten, although he did really like the shortcrust pastry.
