As with all the Wild Science sets, there is a good set of instructions and a stand to keep everything whilst the set is being used.
Hanna set it all out and read the instructions carefully whilst I was nearby to help with the boiling water. There are various tiny bottles of ingredients, of which different ones are used to make different lip balms - there are colours and flavours as well as a shimmer. The instructions also explain how to make a solar lip balm to protect from the suns harmful rays, as well as explaining how to test the solar balm.
Hanna was able to measure out all the ingredients, melt them down and mix them to produce 4 different balms which were poured into the compact to set. Excess balm was poured into another storage container for use another time.
The set is recommended for children aged 8 and over and Hanna, being 9 is at a perfect age for doing this on her own or with a friend, without needing constant supervision, although it is advisable to be nearby when the boiling water is used.
The finished lip balm looked great in the compact, although the shimmer one did get a bit of water in with it and had to be discarded.
She also had a very willing tester to try it out on.
Hanna enjoyed making the lip balm so much & was really pleased with the results that we have been looking into buying extra ingredients to make some for her friends.
The Wild Science set is new for 2012 and retails for around £12.99
