Why do I blog?

Recently I've been reading a lot of posts where the writer is questioning their reasons for blogging and it got me thinking about why I started my blog.......and to be honest I don't actually remember why, I just drifted into it. I can't even remember which came first, whether it was reading blogs or starting mine. It was a bit of a whirlwind at the time and I was overwhelmed with the amount of blogs in this whole new world that had just been opened up to me. I started following people on Twitter, joining in with their conversations and commenting on their blogs and I was thrilled when they started to acknowledge me, like a child in a new school.

There was so much information going around in my head I didn't know whether I was coming or going. I would comment on a blog and then have absolutely no idea how to find that blog again. I was following bloggers on Twitter but didn't know which blog belonged to which Tweeter. I was amazed to read that bloggers got sent stuff to review....for free, and I couldn't believe that this whole community of Mummy (& Daddy) bloggers even existed.

Here I am almost 6 months on and I still don't know why I blog. I know I don't have many followers and a lot of those have only started following me because I host competitions but I don't care because through this new world of blogging I have 'met' some lovely people. I have physically only met a few of those when I attended a book launch last month but this weekend I get to meet The Boy and Me and Wendy from Inside The Wendy House, along with their families when we meet up at West Midlands Safari Park.

Yes I do reviews, yes they have taken over a bit recently, but please don't judge me for that.....it makes my kids love me that little bit more when they get a Nerf Gun, some sweets or a 6 month Club Penguin membership to try!

I'm quite a private person when it comes to my innermost thoughts and, unlike a lot of other bloggers, I find it difficult to open up on my blog but I have, on occasion, written some emotional posts.  I don't really know where my blog is heading but at the moment I don't care, I enjoy it and, for now, that's all that matters.

Everyone has their own reasons for blogging or, if you're like me, do it for no reason at all....but whatever your reason there is no wrong or right, just do whatever makes you happy.......and once you stop feeling happy about it then maybe it's time to stop.

  4. A great post. That's what I love about blogging, we are all so different. No-one should be judged for what they do or don't do, it's our own little space on the internet and I must say, yours is a lovely space my dear! x

  9. So very true! I question why I blog an awful lot. It should really be because it enriches our lives a little shouldn't it. I love the community and the support that we share as bloggers and mums. I've met some lovely people (virtually that is), yourself included, through blogging and it makes it all worthwhile.

It's good to see a post like this from you and interesting to know your reasons for blogging behind it. I thought you had been blogging much longer than me. I wonder what made us on jump on the blogging bandwagon early this year? So far my experience of blogging has been really positive and I have met some lovely people on here and met them in person, some a few times now. That just leaves you my dear xx

  12. Don't feel bad for not opening up on your blogs, i think everyone has something that they wont blog about. I know there are certain things that I wont as I wouldn't want to cause problems. I would have lots to say about some of my family and inlaws otherwise haha.. like you say it doesnt matter why you blog as long as you enjoy it! I also think it doesnt matter how many followers you have as you are doing something you enjoy xx

  13. I still have no idea how to find the blogs I love again, once I have left them. I have only been blogging for 4 months and already love it and wonder what I did before starting my blog, its proved a god send for ranting.
