BEAT Ovarian Cancer - Help Raise Awareness

Via the Netmums website I came across BEAT, a campaign by Ovacome (the Ovarian Cancer Support Network) to help women to recognise the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer.

Ovarian cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women, and as some of the symptoms are similar to those seen in more common conditions, it can be difficult to diagnose, and therefore most women are not diagnosed until the disease has spread.  It is important for all women to be aware of these symptoms so that they can seek advice as early as possible if they have frequent and persistent symptoms.

We can all help spread the word with the help of a widget that can be embedded onto our blogs or websites. This enables readers to track their symptoms online thus improving the chance of early diagnosis. It gives women an easy way to record their symptoms daily that they can share with their doctor.

I think this is an amazing idea, I know how difficult it is to keep a track of anything with children around. I went to see my doctor last year & was told to come back in 6 weeks, when I went back I knew it had been longer than 6 weeks since my previous appointment, but thought it had been 2 or maybe 3 months maximum. Turns out it was 6 months since my previous appointment!

You can add the following tracker to your blog or website by visiting the BEAT website and copying the code into your blog.

You can also add the BEAT campaign video & the ribbon that's across the the top right corner of this page - if you click on the ribbon the online symptom checker pops up. So why not join in the campaign to help raise awareness and add these tools to your blog today.

All information and stats were obtained from the Ovacom website.
